A&E is always a fast-paced place. Many things are going on at the same time. Sometimes it become very difficult to keep pace and while human factors play important role to make situation more unpredictable.
Day by day we have become more and more dependent on apps. There are apps which are very effective and helpful to have on shop floor.
- Nice guidance
- SIGN guidance
BNF & BNFC
BNF is a must have app. It has all the required information for medication including dosages, indication. It has also supplied with side effects and Renal dosages and interaction as well. You can also search according to condition.
The same app comes with BNFC collection as well. SO paediatric medication can be searched as well.
This is the official app of Resus Council UK. All the required ALS flowcharts with dosage of resuscitation medications are here. It has also Paediatric and Newborn guidelines for resuscitation. It’s a must have application while you are working on shop floor.
This is one of the most popular websites for different scoring and risk stratification system. It’s not always possible (and also not recommended) to memorise all the risk stratification scoring system. MDCalc is one the most acceptable risk stratification tools for regular use on shop floor. In MDCacl it also gives the interpretation and advises as per score of the risk stratification system.
It’s the app developed by NICE to use their guidelines in mobile devices. Its one of the recommended and useful while you know about the guideline and to check the known guideline. However, it’s not a very recommended ones if you have not a very good idea about the searched guideline in busy shop floor.
It’s the app developed by SIGN to use their guidelines in mobile devices. Alike NICE Guidance app, it’s one of the recommended and useful one while you know about the guideline and to check the known guideline. However, it’s not a very recommended ones if you have not a very good idea about the searched guideline in busy shop floor.
Well, I would mention Induction as one of the most recommended apps for shop floor time. ED is a place from where one need to communicate with almost everyone and every department of Hospital. It is an App which has the data of all internal phone / bleep / ext number of hospitals. Its an App you will need almost everyday and can save a lot of vital time of yours while you are on shop floor.
Well, before I finish about the most recommended app list for shop floor, I would like to recommend some other apps, which is very handy for shop floor experience.
One of those are NUH guideline.
This app is developed by Nottingham University Hospital for their doctors and other health care professional’s usages. How ever, the app is at both App store and google play store and open for all. You don’t need to register to see the guideline of NUH.
Although, you should use your own hospital’s guideline always, in times of urgent need, this app can give you a guideline for immediate management of the condition you were looking for. I never recommend to use their guideline as your local hospital guideline can be entirely different as per their facilities and contract with nearby hospital and health care facilities. But for medical purpose, you can get an idea very soon.
There are other trusts, which guidelines are present in app store and google play but I’m not sharing all of those. NUH guideline is one of the most reliables ones, which is regularly updated and checked.
It’s always better to know about other apps used by local hospital, one of the example is Microguide. Many trusts (31 trusts and/or hospitals) use it for their recommended microbiology and antibiotic recommendation guideline. It’s free to download: App Store Google Play
It’s always recommended to get used to with websites from where you can use necessary information while you are at shop floor. Recommended websites while you are on shop floor will be published soon.
Please feel free to suggest any other application you found useful during shop floor experience. You can comment here and/or tweet here.
Thank you and Enjoy your Shop Floor experience.
